Chocolatey (like apt-get or yum but for Windows)

Chocolatey is a package manager for Windows (like apt-get or yum but for Windows). It was designed to be a decentralized framework for quickly installing applications and tools that you need. It is built on the NuGet infrastructure currently using PowerShell as its focus for delivering packages from the distros to your door, err computer.

Chocolatey is brought to you by the work and inspiration of the community, the work and thankless nights of the Chocolatey Team, and Rob heading up the direction.

You can host your own sources and add them to Chocolatey, you can extend Chocolatey's capabilities, and folks, it's only going to get better.

With all of this in mind, think of Chocolatey as a framework that you can build on top of. Chef, Puppet and Boxstarter all have ways for using Chocolatey to ensure the state of a computer and packages installed. Even Microsoft has decided to use Chocolatey's framework with the upcoming OneGet client! StreamTorrents

Somewhat similar to the BitTorrent technology, there is a new concept that gives users something more than file sharing: live streams distributed over the Internet. An application tailored especially for this purpose is Stream Torrent.

The main advantage of such an application is that it doesn’t need a server to transfer data because computers are directly connected so it all depends on the speed of the two Internet connections. It simply plays the streaming torrents after you add the desired address to the list.

Installing Stream Torrent is really piece of cake because the setup kit follows the same principle as the rest of the application: simplicity. The interface is clean and user friendly, which means the application can be used by both beginners and more experienced users alike.

Just hit the Search button, write down a keyword to look for available stream and double click the one you like. If you intend to use Stream Torrent just for viewing and not also for streaming, it all comes down to this.

The application also enables you to easily add stream addresses or import entire lists in XML format. Of course you can also export the channels in your list for quick access. Another handy function of this utility is its ability to help you publish your own live stream.

All things considered, Stream Torrent is probably the easiest way to take advantage of BitTorrent technology when it comes to live streaming. You just need to find the channels you're interested in and add them to the queue.

QUITAR LAS FLECHAS DE LOS ICONOS DE ACCESO DIRECTO WinXP

Para quitar las flechitas a los iconos de acceso directo, solo teneis que seguir estos pasos:

- Haz clic en el botón "Inicio" y a continuación sobre "Ejecutar", escribe "Regedit" y pulsa el botón Aceptar.


- Una vez estés en el Registro debes desplazarte por la siguientes claves y borrar el valor IsShortCut de las dos claves:
    
       HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile\IsShortCut
       HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile\IsShortCut


- Una vez borrados estos valores llamados IsShortCut, bastará con reiniciar la máquina para no ver más esas flechas.


- Reiniciar el Pc

Cambiar imagen de arranque de windows

Lo primero que hay que hacer es editar el archivo boot.ini que está en el directorio raíz. No se ve si se en las opciones de carpeta se han ocultado los archivos de sistema.

Una vez desactivada la casilla de ocultar, hay que editar boot.ini que suele ser algo así:

Lo único que hay que hacer es añadir /bootlogo/noguiboot detrás de fastdetect y guardar. Quedaría así:

Por si acaso conviene hacer una copia de seguridad del archivo. Lo siguiente que debemos hacer es elegir una imagen y guardarla con una resolución de 640×480, 16 colores y 4 píxeles de profundidad. Hay que guardarla en el directorio Windows con el nombre boot.bmp

Not that much of a difference from the first one. I'm going to make some more color schemes though.

I wonder if I should change the scrollbar and buttons to the ones I used in the first Alduin. What do you think? I personally don't like the KDE4-ish look I got with the scrollbar. I probably should have listened to myself. "If it aint broken don't change it."
